**Role Summary:**
The Supervisor of Nursing in the Emergency Department is responsible for coordinating patient care and nursing service activities aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. This role involves supervising the emergency department staff, directing professional nursing care, and overseeing the nursing process within the assigned unit.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Collaborate with the unit manager for daily operational leadership.
- Assist in developing and achieving best practices for operational and clinical performance.
- Ensure continuous provision of patient care, conducting patient rounds to gauge care quality and satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, staff, and peers, facilitating effective communication.
- Co-manage assigned clinical operations and daily patient care activities in coordination with the healthcare team.
- Ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and departmental standards for patient care.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement programs, utilizing lean principles for operational problem-solving.
- Help establish and monitor unit goals aimed at quality patient care delivery.
- Support timely performance evaluations and staff counseling, addressing staff behaviors as needed.
- Maintain compliance with operational plans, staffing patterns, and budgets.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and JCAHO requirements while engaging in performance improvement activities.
- Communicate shift information and issues effectively, demonstrating strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring of unit staff, fostering a supportive and developmental work environment.
- Contribute to educational programs for all staff levels and assist in the professional development of healthcare students.
- Enhance physician relationships and consider patient age in care decision-making.
