Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans and ensuring high-quality imaging while providing excellent patient care. As a CT Technologist, you will work closely with radiologists and other medical professionals to deliver accurate diagnostic images that aid in patient treatment and care. Long Term contract for a Cat Scan Technologist to work in Far Rockaway with alternating weekends 11pm-7am or 7pm-7am including night differential.
Job Responsibility
Prepares patients for examination and explains procedures and sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
Perform CT scans on patients in a hospital or emergency room setting.
Ensures that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screens for pregnancy.
Performs CT procedures to include abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.
Prepares patients for exam by placing and positioning patients on exam table within the gantry.
Monitor patients' vital signs during scans
Adjusts and ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment.
In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.).
Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmits cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system, as well as administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and performs venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
Utilizes appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed and utilizes power injector to administer IV contrast, as well as recognizes and assists in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
Maintain accurate records of patient information and scan results.
Job Qualification
Diploma from a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
Valid certification as a CT Technologist
Current ARRT (CT) and or NMTCB (CT) Radiology registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
2 years of technical experience, required.
Bachelor's degree preferred
Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB and/or AART-N)
NYS License required
Previous experience working in a hospital or emergency room setting is preferred.
Proficient in operating CT equipment and software.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
