Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist Specialist
Department: Rehabilitation
Reports to: Director of Rehab
Position Purpose:
The Speech-Language Pathologist Specialist provides specialized speech therapy and audiology services to residents, ensuring high-quality care while adhering to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for residents with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Deliver individualized therapy and provide specialized intervention based on specific resident needs.
Develop and implement treatment plans, documenting patient progress regularly.
Conduct training and education for staff and residents to improve communication and swallowing safety.
Collaborate with the rehabilitation team, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Ensure compliance with all billing, coding, and documentation standards.
Monitor residents’ progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Valid, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license in the state.
Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Extensive knowledge of advanced techniques and treatments for speech and language disorders.
Experience working with complex cases in skilled nursing or long-term care settings.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout the facility and provide hands-on patient care.
Ability to assist with patient transfers and evacuations during emergencies.
Ability to bend, kneel, and lift patients as required.
Work Environment:
Exposure to infectious materials, medical equipment, and varied patient conditions.
Ability to handle emotional stress and difficult situations with residents and their families.
Additional Responsibilities:
Promote teamwork and maintain effective communication with all facility staff.
Follow infection control protocols and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Participate in emergency drills and health safety initiatives.
