New Mexico Donor Services is seeking a Critical Care Nurse and Organ Recovery Coordinator to join our team! We are looking for candidates who:

Below are some of the key accountabilities this position will hold:
Provides on-call recovery services to meet the needs of donor patients, donor families, hospital personnel, and transplant centers.
Completes referral and donor chart record. Assists in data collection needed for recording and reporting donor activities. Adheres to established AOPO, UNOS and company guidelines regarding documentation.
Responds to referral calls by phone or in person as required. evaluates and determines patient suitability for donation. Assumes primary responsibility for management of donor patients, under the guidance of an Organ Recovery Team Lead or Clinical Manager to optimize the number of organs available for transplant by using established donor management guideline protocols, consulting with hospital nursing, physician staff, Medical Director, and leadership.
Provides information necessary to determine medical suitability of organs for designated recipients in accordance with regulatory guidelines including CMS, UNOS, AOPO and company policy.
Coordinates with tissue services, as appropriate, to facilitate tissue recovery.
Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management. Assists in arranging transportation for organ recovery teams.
Coordinates surgical recovery/packaging and arranges transportation of organs for transplant and/or research. Manages all lab specimens for shipment and delivery to laboratories in accordance with established policies.
Meets with donor families, conducts medical and social history interviews, obtains authorization for donation.
Other duties assigned
One to Two years of work experience in a critical care setting or equivalent medical experience in an OPO or related field preferred
Valid Drivers License required. May be required to use privately owned vehicle during the scope of company business
