Description

**Position Overview: Clinical Manager - Telemetry Department**

The Clinical Manager oversees the daily operations of the Telemetry Department, efficiently managing human resources at the unit level. Responsibilities include promptly addressing and resolving complaints from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, while keeping management informed. The Clinical Manager is skilled in adapting to changing workloads during crises and emergencies, and aids employees in understanding complex administrative decisions. Access to Patient Health Information is restricted to treatment purposes only.

**Department-Specific Responsibilities:**

- Lead telemetry staff in providing care for telemetry, stroke, and bariatric patients, as well as managing interventional cardiology protocols and medications.
- Gather and interpret information to meet patient needs effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient growth and development, and understand treatment requirements across various age groups.
- Participate in human resource management, including staff evaluation, counseling, and hiring.
- Assist with payroll reporting and ensure job performance standards and competencies are up to date for all staff.
- Complete performance evaluations in a timely manner, covering both annual and probationary reviews.
- Ensure timely submission of human resource documentation and provide appropriate counseling and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct interviews and hire new staff members.
- Coordinate hospital orientation and mandatory continuing education for employees.
- Attend nursing leadership meetings, taking ownership of the quality and integrity of nursing administration.
- Engage in special projects and ensure comprehensive orientation for all new employees.
- Maintain accurate records for all staff, including certifications, licensure, continuing education, and compliance with unit competencies.
- Foster open communication regarding organizational and healthcare issues.
- Optimize staffing practices based on established benchmarks and acuity data.
- Utilize a patient classification system to predict nursing care needs and document trends in care delivery.
- Assess staff development and cross-training needs as necessary.
- Support hospital-wide initiatives, including risk management, safety, and infection control.
- Manage scheduling processes and facilitate unit workflow and teamwork.
- Monitor labor hour compliance with established benchmarks.
- Enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
- Utilize effective problem-solving strategies.
- Assist in maintaining current standards of care, policies, and procedures, ensuring staff are informed.
- Review and revise policies as needed, at least every three years.
- Support the Director in achieving departmental short- and long-term goals.
- Control and monitor supply costs to meet budgetary targets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and communicate them to the Director.
- Stay current with knowledge and expertise in the department’s specialty and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development of the department’s strategic plan and support the clinical and organizational strategic plans.
- Integrate performance improvement initiatives into daily operations.
- Collect data for unit-based improvements and quality trend analysis.
- Regularly seek feedback and collaborate with the Director on improvement strategies.
- Communicate concerns effectively through appropriate channels and leverage problem-solving skills for resolution.
- Foster cooperation and perform duties courteously and efficiently to support hospital goals.
- Act as a collaborative team member within the department and the larger organization.
- Build positive relationships with patients, families, medical directors, physicians, employees, and administration.
- Ensure timely follow-up on patient, family, staff, and physician concerns in coordination with the Director.

**Qualifications:**

Requirements

- $20K sign-on bonus
- Current California RN License
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
- Proven clinical competence and leadership abilities
- Professional demeanor and positive presentation
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certifications
- Successful completion of EKG test within the first 30 days of hire
- NIHSS certification required
