Job Responsibilities and Competencies:

Providing care to assigned residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner
Completing comprehensive nursing assessments of all residents on admission and on an ongoing basis according to state and federal regulations using the nursing process
Demonstrating competence in clinical skills
Implementing specific approaches to deal with resident behavior, enhances residents’ mood state according to resident care plan
Assuring resident care for assigned residents is completed through reviewing documentation and updating as necessary
Safeguarding residents’ property. Maintains peoples’ self-esteem, privacy and confidentiality of personal information
Assures physicians’ orders are processed correctly and physicians notified in a timely manner. Makes rounds with physicians as assigned
Utilizes good body mechanics during all transfers and other physical tasks
Demonstrates understanding of the work of positions supervised; assigns daily work clearly, give staff authority to complete. Updates staff on changes in work or workforce
Monitoring staff performance daily and gives informal daily feedback and structured weekly feedback. Ensures breaks and meal periods for self and other employees occur timely or a Meal Waiver form is signed based on Fair Labor Standards Act & California Department of Labor regulations. Observes resident care and corrects staff as needed, educating on proper procedures. Includes, but is not limited to the direction and monitoring of LVNs and CNAs.
Assisting with training new employees/assures new staff is being oriented well; provides retraining when needed, either personally or assuring the appropriate person provides the training. Encourages employees’ participation in staff meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree, diploma or B.S. degree
Must hold a current valid LVN/RN license to practice in the State of California or show proof of application for such
Evidence of continuing education in area of the nursing process, nursing management and geriatrics
Preferably has at least one year experience in geriatric nursing
Current CPR certification or ability to become certified in CPR within 180 days of hire
