Seeking a Director of Patient Care | Director of Nursing Oncology to work at a Hospital in Queens. Qualified candidates MUST be OCN Certified, Current NYS RN and have 5 years of Oncology experience and 3 years of Nursing Management experience.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
• 24-hour accountability for the operational management of designated units.
• Oversees staffing schedules, resource allocation, and payroll for the infusion center, radiation oncology, and patient support services.
• Ensures accuracy of patient orders across all departments.
• Drives patient experience and service recovery, including daily rounding and patient call backs.
• Providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population is paramount.
• Monitors and tracks performance improvement (PI) metrics and goals for the entire cancer center.
• Reviews and revises the Quality Improvement Plan annually.
• Prepares and submits quarterly reports to the Quality Improvement Department.
• Ensures all regulatory standards are met
Clinical Leadership:
• Serves as the primary clinical oncology resource person for the entire cancer center.
• Accountable for the oncology education of the nursing staff across all departments.
• Facilitates and collaborates on obtaining accreditation for Cancer Center
• Collaborates with physicians and the Service Line Administrator to achieve the cancer center’s goals.
• Oversees the Nurse Navigator program.
• Promotes a positive image of the hospital and cancer center within the community.
Quality Improvement:
• Implements a system of monitoring and evaluation for quality improvement initiatives across the cancer center.
• Participates and promotes the hospital's quality improvement program.
• Communicates monitoring results to Oncology Service Line Administrator & QI Committee.
Staff Engagement and Development:
• Cultivate a positive and supportive work environment that prioritizes employee well-being, engagement, and job satisfaction.
• Develop and implement comprehensive staff development plans aligned with organizational and individual goals to enhance clinical expertise and leadership capabilities.
• Foster open communication and collaboration through regular staff meetings, one-on-one interactions, and effective feedback mechanisms.
• Partner with Human Resources to optimize staffing levels, attract and retain top talent, and effectively manage employee relations, including union negotiations when applicable.
• Empower staff through shared decision-making and opportunities for professional growth while ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

• Current New York Registered Nurse Licensure
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Education or Advance Practice Acute Care Nursing; MSN preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and Staff Development certification
• Minimum of five years of oncology nursing experience
• Minimum of one year of managerial nursing experience
• OCN Certification, Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification
