SEEKING RETIRED NURSE
Position Description
- Intermittent, pre-scheduled, late afternoon, evening and/or overnight stay
- Most needed timeframe 4pm-9pm
- Private Moreland Hills residence, excellent and safe environment
- Must have nursing credentials (RN, LPN)
- Must communicate clearly in English
- Knowledge of CPR, end of life and comfort care directives, vital sign tracking, O2 as needed,
patience, good interpersonal skills, kindness
- Negotiable hourly rate $27.00-$30.00 per hour (paid by check, acceptance of 1099 if exceed
Federal limit)
- Family has the option to terminate employment at will
Background
- 95-year-old widowed mother, relatively independent, verbal
- She has a nursing background (master's in nursing from FPB, past OSU Associate Professor)
- Widowed 11.5 years from long-time husband who was a local cardiologist
- Currently in the care of the Navigator program
Essentials
- Ability to develop a trusting and dependable rapport
- Ability to handle mood swings, forgetfulness, confusion
- Ability to provide a sense of security, safety
- 1:1 support, engagement (i.e., talk, puzzle, art, music, memories, etc.)
- Assistance as needed (i.e., meal prep, walker transfer, medication assistance)
Conditions
- Independent transportation (no Lyft or Uber) with valid driver’s license
- Appropriate hygiene and grooming (i.e., hair cleanly, short/clean fingernails, etc.)
- Nonsmoker only (includes cigarettes, vaping, chew, medical marijuana, etc.)
- Non-perfume, non-aftershave wearer (aromas can trigger migraines)
- No use of ear buds, smart watch, cell phone, laptop (except in emergency situation)
- Acceptance of pre-existing camera monitoring
Other
- Can bring prepared meal(s) with ability to re-warm
- If overnight assistance, once mother sleeping, can watch television, use laptop, etc.
