Job Description:
• Trauma Level: 3
• Charting System: Cerner
• Beds: 5T: 34; 7T: 36
• Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Required certifications: 5T: BLS, NIHSS; 7T: BLS
• Common diagnoses: 5T: CKD, ESRD, CVA, DM; 7T: COPD, Sepsis, AMS, UTI, AKI, Diabetes, COVID, Anemia, Weakness.
• Experience: 7T: Teamwork, initiative.
• Are RNs required to titrate drips?: 5T: No; 7T: Heparin (with the direction for Pharmacist).
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips: 5T: N/A; 7T: All set rates for drips on 7T. Amiodarone (stabledose), Dobutamine (stable dose not new to patient), Cardizem (stable dose).
• Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: 5T: No. Required to be able to read strips. Monitor room has techs but not located on unit;  7T: No tele techs on floor. CMR owns the process. Phillips.
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse will flow into staffing if census dictates or staffing calls for it.
• Nurse aides: Yes, No set ratio. Goal is < or = 1:12.
• RT Equipment: 5T: High flow, Cpap, BiPap; 7T: All O2 modalities up to BiPAP. No ventilators.
• Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks.
• Holiday Requirement: 5T: 1 major and 2 minors in winter; 7T: Thanksgiving or Christmas + NY or NYE. One summer holiday (July 4th or Memorial Day).
• Call or a Standby Requirement: No – only applies to full time staff.
• Floating Requirements: Yes. Within medical-surgical division.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year of RN MedSurg experience is required.
• Active AL RN License required or Compact
• ACLS and BLS, from AHA required.
• Covid Card
