• We are a Critical Illness Recovery Hospital – our patients are high acuity have to have had at least 3 night stay in the ICU to qualify for our hospital
• We are not a Rehab facility. We prepare patients for Rehab, Skilled Nursing, Home, or assist in Palliative Care.
• Our Patients are complex. Below are some conditions we treat (keep in mind, our patients may have more than one of these conditions):
o Strokes, TBI, Spinal Cord injuries, Trauma, Resp Failure, Cardiac Failure, Surgical Complications, non-healing wounds, cardiogenic shock, bowel obstructions, etc…
o The patients have had extended hospital stays prior to coming to us
o The average stay in our hospital is 4 – 6 weeks
• Acuity:
o Highest acuity would be those patients on vents with vasoactive drips that we are titrating up.
o Lowest acuity would be a patient getting 6-8 weeks of IV antibiotics.
o Critical Drips include Vasopressin, Levophed, Dopamine and some sedations as we titrate the drip UP.
o Once we start titrating the drip down or we are not titrating at the time, the drip is no longer critical.
o Drips like Amiodarone, Heparin, NonTitrated Cardizem, and such are not considered critical drips
• Nurse Patient Ratios
o Typical load is 4-5:1 (you will have patients w/trachs and some on stable vents)
o High acuity patients will result in a 2-3:1
• Requirements
o ACLS Certification through AHA
o BLS Certification through AHA
o Active and unencumbered RN Licensure that is Compact or IN license.
