LTS is seeking an experienced and dedicated Immunization Registered Nurse to join the ICHD team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in immunization and healthcare practices and passionate about educating the community and delivering high-quality care. LTS collaborates with the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) in Michigan to support its immunization programs, enhancing the health of local communities.

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Immunization Clinic Supervisor, the Immunization Registered Nurse will play a key role in protecting the community from vaccine-preventable diseases. The role involves providing immunization services, assessing patient needs, and delivering education to clients and caregivers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Adhere to ICHD and OSHA safety standards, as well as infection control policies and protocols.
• Assess and evaluate clients' immunization status based on current vaccine guidelines, vaccination schedules, and medical histories.
• Educate clients and caregivers on the importance of immunizations, potential side effects, and aftercare.
• Prepare and administer vaccines safely, following manufacturer instructions, using double-check systems for accuracy.
• Maintain accurate client and clinic records to ensure proper documentation of administered vaccines.
• Assist non-English speaking clients by overcoming barriers to healthcare access, utilizing interpreters when necessary.
• Report suspected child or adult abuse/neglect to authorities, in line with state law and department policy.
• Participate in off-site vaccination clinics, including regular and seasonal events.
• Safely transport biological materials and other necessary supplies to clinic sites and administer vaccines.
• Oversee the disposal of hazardous waste materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Provide immunization expertise and guidance to staff during off-site clinics and community health fairs.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions to vaccinations and respond to medical emergencies, including vaccine reactions and injuries.
• Ensure client records are secure and confidential in compliance with HIPAA standards and department policies.
• Educate clients on their rights concerning the privacy of medical information.
• Use CDC guidelines and resources like the Red Book to make informed nursing decisions.
• May maintain and audit Material Data Safety Sheets (MDSS).
• Ensure adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in a clinical setting.
• Current RN license in the State of Michigan.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Willingness to travel to off-site vaccination clinics.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
• Capable of sitting, standing, squatting, bending, kneeling, and walking for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to perform gross and fine motor functions and maintain sensory functions.
• Must be able to work in a latex-safe environment.
• Must meet physical and medical evaluation standards, including respirator use.
• Exposure to infectious diseases and potential hazards such as needle pricks and adverse weather conditions.
