Job Summary:
Critical Care Nurses (ICU/CCU) provide care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life-threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication protocols and therapies. Critical Care Nurses face the additional responsibility for the emotional and psychosocial health of the patient, family and significant others.
Critical Care RN is expected to function in the role of Clinical Resource Nurse.
The Registered Nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The Registered Nurse, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education experience, may delegate nursing acuities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided that the delegating Registered Nurse shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes.
The Registered Nurse must have excellent assessment skills, clinical skills, organizational skills, and computer knowledge and charge capabilities. The Registered Nurse must be able to lift, transfer and move patients. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language. Able to complete mathematical computations required to perform treatment protocols.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
Certification/ Licensure:
Current nursing license in Massachusetts required.
BCLS and ACLS required.
