Long term contract for 2 Medical Assistants to work in an Orthopedic office in Greenwich, CT. The hours are Monday -Friday 8am-5pm. Ideal candidates will have at least 1-2 years of experience and National certification as a registered medical assistant preferred and Orthopedic experience preferred. This role will consist of working the front desk as well.
Responsibilities:
Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Collects detailed and accurate patient history.
Prepares and maintains exam rooms with necessary instruments, equipment and supplies.
Follows up with patient on physicians current patient care notes or instructions.
Provides general assistance, education and information to patient questions.
Performs post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressing change, cast removal, cast application and splint application.
Assists physicians in setup and performance of medical procedures under the direction of physician or nurse manager.
Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality.
Prepares, cleans and stocks examination rooms. Assures surfaces are clear and puts away any articles that were left out and replenishes missing stock in drawers and cabinets.
Unpacks new supply deliveries and stores away items as directed.
Assists members of clinical support staff and physicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (includes patient care, post-op phone follow-up calls and other patient phone calls, medication updates)
Documents all phone calls and actions appropriately in EMR.
Follows all HIPAA regulations as instructed.
Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
Greet and register patients in a prompt and pleasant manner.
Instruct patients to complete registration, history and HIPAA acknowledgement forms.
Request updates from established patients.
Collect and enter all insurance referrals.
Make copies of patient forms and insurance cards.
Enter all demographic information and off-bill comments into billing system.
Call insurance carriers and patients for follow-up information to complete registration as needed.
Instruct patients about referral and payment process as needed.
Schedule and re-schedule appointments for patients.
Takes message and respond to requests.
Perform Expediter (escort patients to exam rooms) and Call Center duties as needed.
Qualifications
General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to handle high stress, busy work environment.
Knowledge of Word & Outlook Required.
Orthopedic and/or casting experience preferred.
Knowledge of GE Centricity a plus.
Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong organizational skills
Medical Assistant Certification preferred
